The associate professor of Care Ethics & the Arts will be part of the Care Ethics Chair. The Care Ethics Chair is internationally recognized for its interdisciplinary approach to care ethics and its Master's degree in Care Ethics & Policy. Care ethics as a concern-driven ethics has a strong focus on the interplay between conceptual and empirical, qualitative research. The chair group consists of seven well attuned researchers, educators and scholars forming a close-knit team with adjunct instructors and researchers, both contract and Ph.D. In addition to contributing to the teaching and research of the chair, the associate professor can expect to participate in the academic and societal community through collaboration with colleagues from other departments, especially with regard to the internationalization efforts of the university, one of the key themes of the Strategic Plan for the period 2022-2026.
To expand its leadership in the field, the department is looking for an associate professor with expertise in the intersection of care ethics, aesthetics and the arts in the context of normative societal concerns. We are searching for a dynamic and conceptually strong individual who can help expand ongoing research on care ethics, the arts and aesthetics. You initiate and collaborate with (inter)national and local colleagues on grant proposals, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, deliver lectures, contribute to the growth of care ethics and arts-based research in general. You will have the space to develop/continue developing your own portfolio of research in conjunction with collaborations with other universities and societal partners (such as art schools). You participate in teaching and research activities through those and/or other venues such as the International Care Ethics Research Consortium and the Art & Care Platform Series (co-)led by Dr. Visse.
